The Livonia Warriors (2832) & The Tyros Team (6861)
FRC teams 2832 and 6861 are based in Livonia, Michigan, and are comprised of students from the three Livonia Public High Schools: Churchill, Franklin, and Stevenson. The Livonia Warriors team was established in 2009 for the FIRST game, Lunacy. The Tyros Team was established in 2018 for the FIRST game, Power Up.
The three high schools’ mascots are all warrior-based, which heavily influenced the selection process for the naming of the Livonia Warriors. During the creation of the Tyros team, that same naming theme was followed, as the word Tyros means “young soldiers” in Latin. The Tyros, our rookie FRC team, was developed in an effort to provide freshmen with more hands-on experience in a smaller group setting, and is primarily comprised of freshmen and includes a few sophomores for support.
Both FRC teams are based at the Livonia Career Technical Center (LCTC) located across the street from Churchill High School. We use the resources and facilities to build our robots and work on other team tasks. Our teams are comprised of squads (work groups) which include designing, building, testing, driving, safety, scouting, and other endeavors like fundraising, writing, imagery, promotions, and marketing. We are very proud that we have hosted an FRC district competition at Churchill High School since 2011.
Our teams could not function without the guidance of our adult mentors, including parents, community members, and sponsors. We appreciate the time, energy, and support provided by these adults who keep our Warrior and Tyros machines running smoothly. Contact LPS FIRST Coordinator Isolina Carlini at [email protected] for more information about becoming a member of the Livonia Warriors team.
